From Middle English loyne < Old French loigne, assumedly from Late Latin root *lumbea < Latin lumbus, of Patrono:Gem[[Category:Patrono:Gem derivations|Loin]] origin, from Proto-Germanic *landwin- (loin). Related to Old English lendenu, Patrono:Nld lende, Patrono:Deu Lende, Patrono:Cu Patrono:Cyrs etc.
